I. What Are Clip-in Hair Extensions?

Firstly, what exactly are clip-in hair extensions? You may have heard of clip-in hair extensions before, but that doesn’t mean you already know what they are exactly. That’s probably why you’re here! Essentially, clip-in hair extensions are a temporary alternative to traditional hair extensions, designed to add length to your hair, as well as increase thickness and volume. They come in a wide range of different lengths, colors, thicknesses, and more, and allow you to customize your hair.

Many people love them for their temporary nature, as you can have super long hair one day, and short the next. Being temporary, as with many other temporary products, they cause much less damage than regular hair extensions when used correctly and appropriately. They also tend to be much cheaper than regular extensions, which you must have applied professionally.

II. How To Install Clip In Hair Extensions?

How To Install Clip In Hair Extensions Step #1: Starting With A 3-Clip Weft

Begin by thoroughly brushing your own hair with a soft paddle brush to detangle it. Then, using your finger or a comb, separate a straight thin section of hair at the nape of your neck and clip the rest of your hair away with a hair clip. Brush out a 3-clip weft before clipping it into your hair. To remove tangles, begin at the bottom and work your way up the weft.

Step #2: Take A Large 4-clip Weft

Separate a straight, thin section of hair about an inch above the first clipped weft, and clip the rest of the hair away. Brush it from the bottom up to remove any knots, then measure the weft against the sectioned portion to ensure a perfect fit on your head. Locate the center of your head and clip the middle two clips into the roots of your hair first, followed by the side clips.

Using a clip, separate a straight thin section of hair about two inches below the crown of your head and clip the rest of the hair away. Then take the second 3-clip weft. As usual, brush it out carefully and measure it against your head to make sure it will fit perfectly. Locate the center of your head and insert the middle clip first into the roots of your hair, followed by the side clips. All of the large wefts at the back of your head should now be clipped in, leaving only the small ones.

Step #4: Take The 2-clip Wefts

2-clip wefts are the wefts that go on the sides of your hair. They will add volume on the sides and make your hair in the front blend in seamlessly with the longer extensions. Clip the rest of the hair away and separate a straight thin section of hair about two inches above the ear on the side. Secure the clip closest to your hairline first with a 2-clip weft. Then repeat on the other side.

Separate a section of hair just above the 2-clip weft and clip away the rest. Brush out 1-clip wefts and clip them into a small piece of hair as close to the roots as possible, above the 2-clip weft, or wherever you feel more blending is needed. Repeat the process on the opposite side of your head.

III. How To Keep Clip-In Hair Extensions in Good Condition?

Clip-ins are easy to keep clean and maintain. Consider the following tips to keep your hair extensions in good condition:

1. Brush Before and After Use

Make sure to brush your extensions thoroughly before you clip them on and after wearing them. Start by running your hairbrush from the bottom part and work your way up. Be gentle, especially when brushing tangled hair sections and avoid pulling too hard to maintain the thickness of your clip-ins.

2. Washing and Moisturing

Since your extensions do not have roots where they can get moisturizing nourishments, you need to condition them regularly. After 30 wears depending on the frequency or once a month, we recommend washing them with sulfate-free natural products and applying hair serum or oil to lock in moisture. Apply a regular conditioner every once in a while, to keep the hair clean and shiny. Be careful not to brush them out when wet.

3. Dry Them Naturally

After washing your extensions, pat them with a towel and dry them naturally. Avoid using a hairdryer as much as possible since intense heat can ruin the artificial hair. Be careful not to brush them out when wet; you must ensure they are dry then brush thoroughly with a hair extension brush, not doing so could cause damage and even breakage, meaning they wear out quicker.
